Enthiran - The Robot movie review

The most expensive movie ever made in India , Enthiran - the Robot released ion Oct, 01 2010. The movie is primarily targeted for Tamil Nadu. But made in telugu and Hindi version too. Superstar RajiniKnath and Aishwwarya Rai Bachan played the lead roles.
The story is about this genius scientist Dr Vaseegaran (Rajnikanth) who creates a robot that is a superior example of artificial intelligence. The robot is named Chitti (Rajnikanth again). The robot falls in love with a girl Sharmili (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and starts writing poems out of her love. Dr Vaseegaran realises that he has created not just a robot, but a masterpiece who can feel also like humans. But then there are evil men out there who plan to steal Chitii and misuse his artificial intelligence abilities to fulfill their selfish purposes. The rest of the movie revolves around Dr Vaseegaran trying to save his creation from the hands of the bad in the world.
The movie has also been released down south in Tamil as ‘Endhiran’ and seen massive advance bookings and a bumper opening down south. The music by A R Rahman has also been quite a hit with the Tamil audience. The way trailers show the sci fi quotient in the movie, most of the critics are very skeptical as far as the originality and innovation is concerned. People are not expecting much out of the movie in its Hindi version ‘Robot’ because Rajnikanth is not a very major pull as he is in the south. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan too looks quite old and jaded to be honest and definitely not a very flattering leading lady.
In my opinion, if you are a die hard Rajnikanth fan or someone who likes his sci-fi the Bollywood way, with dollops of romance and comedy thrown in, then maybe this one is a perfect weekend movie for you. Releasing on the first Friday of the month October, this one is strictly for fans of the great legend called Rajnikanth. Rest how does it fare on the box office, remains to be seen but words of the celeb world are already saying only good about it!

Robot is similiar to Sholay

"Around Rs.200 crore has been invested to make the film. It's fantastic; technical excellence is there. The evergreen Hidi movie 'Sholay' made history not because of the money or budget involved, not because it was a multi-starrer, not because of the technicalities, but because of its subject. The way Salim-Javed had written it, the way Ramesh Sippy directed the film, the way human emotions were created, the character Veeru, Jay, Basanti..."Like 'Sholay', in 'Robot' too there is an excellent storyline, excellent character sketches. This is the first Indian story of its type. It's science fiction and excellently made," Rajnikanth told reporters at the music release of "Robot" at JW Marriot Saturday.Director Shankar has made the movie bilingual as "Robot" in Hindi and "Endhiran" in Tamil. Aishwarya Rai plays the female lead opposite Rajnikant in both the versions.The actor says he accepted such a tough and challenging role only because of his trust in director Shankar, with whom he gave the blockbuster "Sivaji"."Shankar is an excellent technician and one of the best directors of India who can mix the class and commercial elements very well. I did 'Sivaji' with him and I trust him completely, so I agreed to do the film - else I would have not done the film as it is a very tough and challenging role," said Rajnikant.First Kamal Haasan was supposed to do the role and even Shah Rukh Khan was approached.When asked about that, Rajni enthralled the press with his witty reply: "'Daane daane pe likha hai khane wale ka Naam'."The music was launched by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his entire family was present on the occasion."Thank you so much for inviting me and giving me the honour and privilege of releasing the audio of this much talked about film" said shankar.

Endiran - Telugu producers demand 30 crores !!!

The filmmakers of Endhiran - Telugu version are demanding Rs 30 crores for the rights of dubbing version of the film in Telugu. It is more than the Rs 20 crores that the Telugu version of Rajnikanth super hit flick ‘Sivaji-The Boss’ had been sold and so the Telugu producers are treading the line with caution. But Kalanidhi Maran, the producer of ‘Endhiran—The Robot’, argues that the latest film has unparalleled gizmos and high tech sequences and the price was justified. In any case, the film in Tamil version has cost more than Rs 100 crores to produce it and so he does not want to sell it without ensuring that the movie had already recovered its cost through various deals. The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Aishwarya Rai has done superb job in the film and even Rajnikanth praised the lady to skies during its music release in Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. Rajnikanth even joked that if Amitabh Bachchan, her father-in-law, was watching from somewhere, he would have asked him to stop praising Ash so much. But on a serious note Rajni termed Aishwarya to be a born artiste.

Endiran Story

Endhiran earlier titled as Robot, is a forthcoming science-fiction Tamil–language film being directed by S. Shankar. Southern superstar Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Bachchan are playing the main lead in which Rajnikanth would be seen in a double role. This film has a huge budget after Aishwarya Bachchan’s Jeans which was directed by S.Shankar.
We spoke to a source close to the film,“The film has Rajnikanth playing two roles – scientist and the robot and its name is Endhiran, which is created by him. This film will focus on the situation which forced Rajni to make a robot and then his relationship with it and then the wishes he want the Robot to fulfil.”
Further about the plot
“The film is set in 2200 AD and he is a famous scientist who is in love with Aishwarya. Later on he is given a mission of creating robots but at certain point of time there is a big twist which is the USP of Endhiran. Later on he tries to bring back his creation but realizes that a robot which he had made is very hard and has started falling in love with the girl he loves and then the chase begins among the three and so on.”

Endhiran Audio release hits a new record

It’s a ‘record’, literally. The ‘Endhiran’ music album has occupied the numero uno slot in the ‘Top Charts’ list of Apple itunes Store, one of the leading portals to sell music albums online.
This is the first time for a Tamil film music album to achieve this position in the website, which accounts for 70 per cent of music sold legally on the internet. The Apple itunes Store is not the MP3 download that is usually done with the pirated versions doing the rounds. It is not even a week since the music of ‘Endhiran’ released and within just these many days, ‘Endhiran’ has become the number one album in the ‘Top Charts’ List. It is the combination of Shankar, Rajnikanth and AR Rahman that has brought about this result.
This Rs. 190 crore film is the most anticipated movie of the year.

Rajnikanth’s to be big hit movie “Endhiran – The Robot’ had its audio launched day before yesterday at Putrajaya Stadium in KL, Malaysia. The entire venue was studded with bigwigs of Malaysia including politicians and tycoon. Lots of Kollywood celebrities turned up for the event and the most surprising part of this show was Silambarasan shaking legs for the songs of Rajnikanth.
Superstar Rajnikanth along with his daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sun Pictures Managing Director Mr. Kalanidhi Maaran, his younger brother and Cabinet Minister Dayanidhi Maaran, actresses Sangeetha along with her husband-playback singer Krish, Jeyam Ravi, Silambarasan, Vijayalakshmi of Chennai 600028 fame, Ramya Krishnan, S.A. Chandrasekhar, Santhanam, actor Vadivelu, lyrist Vairamuthu, A. R. Rahman, cinematographer Rathinavel, Editor Anthony, Art Director Sabu Cyril and many others were present.
Comedy actor Vivek played the perfect host by conducting the occasion. Dances choreographed by Kala Master were performed. The entire crowd was overwhelmed with excitement when then teasers of Endhiran were screened.
Addressing the crowd, A.R. Rahman mentioned that music of Endhiran will surely elevate the standards of Tamil music at international standards. Superstar Rajnikanth strongly admitted that Endhiran wouldn’t be just an entertainment film, but will offer a different and new experience for the audiences.
